Lindy Bowl 2009 Party, Sunday 2/1

Don't miss the big game, and the even bigger Lindy Bowl this Sunday, February 1st, at the Melody Club! Starting at 5pm, HSDS will be providing pizza for everyone and a fabulous big screen projection view of the game!

Afterwards, stay for a unique Lindy Hop version of the Superbowl -- the Lindy Bowl! Four teams will battle it out for the ultimate title of Lindybowl Champs 2009! Please bring your favorite snacks, desserts, or (non-alcoholic) drinks.

A Special El Orbits show at Sauté! Friday 1/30/2009

The legendary El Orbits play Friday at Sauté! Sauté invites you to join them Friday 9pm-1am for 'Sweet and Sauté Swing', with swing dancing, great music, talented DJ's, delicious food, and distinctive wines.

Cover is $5 (Free with entree purchase; $3 for students). DJ'ed dance music when the band's not playing.

(Note: Sauté is just off Richmond between Greenbriar and Kirby, next to the Audi dealership in the same parking lot as Hobbit Cafe and Blue Fish House).

Great Southwest LindyFest 2009, March 12th-15th

The Houston Swing Dance Society's 13th Annual Great Southwest Lindyfest is coming up March 12-15, 2009! Lindyfest is one of the largest (and cheapest) swing dance weekend workshops in the world. If you live in the Houston area, swing dance and don't attend Lindyfest - oh, the shame...the horror! The instructors are internationally known, the djs fabulous and the opportunity to make new swing dancing friends tremendous. Sign up today! The Great Southwest Lindyfest is an amazing lindy hop weekend workshop jammed packed with classes for all dance levels, soul sessions with living legends, hot performances and four endless nights of dancing. Lindyfest brings in hundreds of dancers from allacross the globe to learn lindy hop from the masters and experience the excitement of Lindy Hop, all here in Houston, Texas!

Lone Star Championships, Austin, TX, January 23-25, 2009

The 2009 Lone Star Championships -- Lindy Hop, Swing, Charleston, and Blues competition.

Texas officially has it's second annual competition! This inspirational weekend party will feature dancing the entire weekend, amazing competitions, and multiple instructors and teachers!

This is a social event. Not only for the social dancing, but the competitions are social dance competitions - Jack and Jills and Strictlys only. Between that and some extra special classes and surprises... think of this as an exchange... on steriods. Yes, you want to be here for it.
