Come see 2009 in with a bang! To end our trial run at Nia Moves, you are invited to a special dance! We've invited our Westie friends as well for a special "East Meets West" evening of genre-blurring dancing, music from West Coast to Lindy and everything in between, and fun!
$3 Cover, dancing from 8pm till 12. Water and sodas will be available for $1 each. Nia Moves is located just north of downtown off of 45, at 3221 Houston Ave, Houston, TX 77009 (map). Please help protect the floors by observing Nia Moves' "no street shoes" rule and bringing your dancing shoes (or socks).
Note that there will be no dances at Taft or Té on 1/3, so this will be the place for dancing!

Monday Night Bingo and Dancing with the El Orbits... Last Chance!
If you've been sitting on the fence and haven't made it out lately for Monday Night dancing and bingo at the Continental Club (map) with the El Orbits, now's the time! Our spies inform us that, sadly, this venerable (and quirky) Monday night institution will be coming to an end with 2008.
Don't miss the authentic light-up bingo board, "bingo and a song", lucky bingo cards, the bingo girls, Bongo Jane, and of course, "the bingo girl is always right"!
There are three Monday shows left (December 15th, 22nd, and 29th), and a big send-off is being planned for Monday the 29th. Dancers will be out all month, and remember you must yell Bingo!

Lights (and Swing!) in the Heights 2008! Saturday, 12/13/2008
Swing Dancing at Lights In The Heights? Now's your chance to both experience this uniquely Houston event, as well as show off your favorite moves with your fellow swing dancers! The Houston Swing Dance Society once again has a sponsor and will be set up at 803 Woodland (map), at the corner of Watson and Woodland with music and dancing! The Hepcats will perform in the street about every 30 minutes from 6-9pm, with social dancing going on the rest of the time!
This event is huge, free publicity for our Houston swing dancing scene -- hundreds of people will walk by the dancing. Come on out and join in ... lets see the whole city dancing!
The entire neighborhood is filled with foot traffic on 4 streets, with Christmas decorations, live bands, kids riding red wagons, and holiday cheer.
For more information, drop in on our HSO Forum discussion, and ask someone who's attended in years past! (Also: There's a group getting together for dinner beforehand at King Biscuit. And some photos from 2007's Lights In The Heights).
