Harvest Moon Ball 2008 - This Saturday 9/27!

It's time again for Houston's Harvest Moon Ball, this Saturday, September 27th!

Houston's Harvest Moon Ball, held every Fall for the past twelve years, is a co-sponsored Houston Swing Dance Society and Rice Social Dance Society event designed to celebrate Houston's social dance scene. It's a night to wear one's finest clothing and dance to Houston's best big band, Third Coast Swing.

  • Free snacks and drinks... salty and sweet, mmmm!
  • Performances... by Houston's Hepcats, and more!
  • Contests with cash prizes... Lindy for Speed, Swivels for Girls, Swivels for Guys!
  • All skates... Solo Charleston, Jam Circles, and the Shim Sham... Join us!
  • Photo Booth... once again David Holmes photographs your favorite poses in his portable studio!
Advance discounted tickets are available online for $15 via PayPal at http://www.hsds.org/ , or are $20 at the door. The evening starts with a free lesson at 7 PM, and then dancing from 8 PM to Midnight with Third Coast Swing.

The Ball will be held at Rice University's Grand Ballroom (map). Parking is free (thanks to Parents Weekend).

(and no, Hurricane Ike has NOT created any circumstances requiring rescheduling... it's on!)

Hurricane Ike = HSO Outage

HoustonSwingOut! is temporarily down due to service instability following Hurricane Ike. When Comcast is cooperating, the old site is partially accessible. In the meantime, this is the new partly-finished "2.0 beta" which I'll go ahead and rush into service.

The HSO Calendar is available and generally up-to-date. The new forum still needs work, but feel free to sign-up and get started!
